Frank "Andrew" Kozel, MD
Dr. Kozel is the Director FSU Neuromodulation at Innovation Park, the Medical Director for the FSU Behavioral Health at Apalachee, and Co-Director of the FSU Mood and Anxiety Center of Excellence. He started his medical career as a flight surgeon in the US Air Force and subsequently became a board-certified psychiatrist whose work with neuroimaging and neuromodulation has included research, clinical care, teaching, and dissemination for over 20 years. His research uses brain imaging and brain stimulation to better understand and treat neuropsychiatric disorders with the focus of improving the lives of patients with these devastating disorders. He has published over 80 research articles in multiple disciplines that have been cited over 5,800 times. He has been invited to give lectures at international conferences on various topics including neuroimaging and neuromodulation. He is the lead inventor on a patent to use functional MRI to detect deception. Dr. Kozel is a distinguished fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, has been elected twice to the Board of Directors of the Clinical TMS Society as well as previously serving as the Chair of the Research Committee and recently being selected to Co-Chair the Clinical Standards Committee of the Clinical TMS Society. In addition, he has been instrumental in the training and assisting with the VA’s National TMS dissemination program out of the Palo Alto VA.
