Dr. Antonio L Teixeira is a Professor of Psychiatry and Neurology at UTHealth, and the Director of the Neuropsychiatry Program. Dr. Teixeira has studied the neurobiological basis of behavioral syndromes (e.g. apathy, depression) related to neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s and Huntington’s diseases, searching for novel therapeutic targets. In the latter context, he has investigated the role of tDCS for neuropsychiatric disorders, and the potential use of biomarkers to predict therapeutic response.
